two pack paint

Postby gaz » 11 Jun 2008 12:30

with the cut of date for two pack paint been just around the corner i've just bought a spare 1ltr for any touch ups/blow ins that i may need doing in the near future as i wasn't sure if cavalry blue was a pre 78 colour anything 30 years old or older will be ok so im told.... so obiously the car its self doesn't need to be 30 years old just the time when the paint was first used i thought there was somewhere on the site listing all the paint codes and when they were used.... i think cavalry blue may have been a solihull only colour i may be wrong

£38 for a litre although i suspect when the call for two pack dwinddles the price will go through the roof so been a cheapskate thought i'd buy it now

Cavalry Blue was only used on the 7 for a short period, about 6 months I think, in 1981.

That's not to say that it was not used on other BL cars at an earlier date, or is the 30 year rule vehicle specific?

£38 a litre sounds a lot but think yourself lucky - my mate has been enquiring about touch up for his TVR, his paint comes in at around £500 for a US quart[:0] He was quoted £120 for a touch up set. (It's that paint that is a different colour depending on the angle you are looking from).
