TR7 Victory Edition

Postby diver » 25 May 2008 02:03

I was reading the article about TR's in Classic Motorsports and had a Q. What makes a Victory Edition? I have TR7 with vinyl top, sporty trim decals, but does not have the spoke-wheels. I have been told there was a decal on the dash, true? I also heard that there were clone copies made by dealers.?? Is there any special value to car?
To set the story straight, I bought it with-out engine and trans.

I believe the dash plaque is the 30th Anniversary Edition. The white spoke wheels have likely been replaced as they were prone to cracking. The clone copies is probably a reference to the fact that some dealers may have added decals to base models. The value of the car may be higher than base models as about 3500 were made but not as much as the condition of the car will make a difference to it's value.

Yeah, had a dash plaque, listed the years it won the scca championships, looked very similiar to the anniversary one. Also hood stripes, and I think vinyl top, and spoke wheels, and that was about it.

i would expext that the plaque could have easly gone missing after all these years and true the wheels were a bit dodgy, Vynal roofs however are rather rare what is the year of your car colour etc

Here is the dash plaque..We did not get the Victory Edition here in the UK. The only way I could find out what the correct plaque looked like was to buy a second hand VE glovebox lid complete with plaque. The vendor was not comfortable trying to lift the plaque off so I had to pay postage on the whole lid. Took about 30 seconds and a sharp knife to get it off. It was in disappointing condition so I got it scanned and reprinted then overlaid the original.. you can't tell I dont think..

Thanks for all the info.
The TR was Speke built about April 1976. It's color is CAB Pimento with black interior. As the engine and trans were gone I am putting a V6 Buick & 2004r in the engine bay. I already had the V6 & trans, however if I didn't, a 5.0 V8 would have look great in there.

Actually the year car and the build date may be a bit different. My Victory edition's build date was actually late 75' and sold as a 76'I'll go check again this weekend to be sure.
