Sandown Park Auction 12/02/2008

Postby John Wood » 30 Jan 2008 22:01

One exceptionally rare convertible is the ex-factory, RHD 1981 V8 Triumph TR8, one of just 18 RHD models built in 1980/81. The TR8 was often called the ‘English Corvette’, and most were sold in the United States. Very few genuine TR8s exist outside the USA, except for pre-production examples, and this particular car was originally supplied to the Quality Control and Reliability Department of British Leyland. Estimate £10,000-£12,000.

Question is, which one is it?

I don't usually reply to my own questions but iv'e found it. Is this one worth the estimate?, it's had a couple of colour changes in it's life.

John, I know the car well, it was the first of the 18, it featured in the last Rimmers catalogue whilst painted graphite, it was owned by Rimmers for quite a while until they sold it to buy the low mileage gold one from the Patrick collection. It was repainted in its original white by the present owner who is in the TR Drivers club. It is a nice car.
