How many Tr7s left on the road.

Postby emwmarine » 26 Nov 2007 08:54

I am now part way through my TR7 FHC restoration and I started looking at the prices of 7s, just out of curiosity. Still can't believe how cheap they are and I wondered how many are left on the road. Is there any way of finding out? Does anyone have a good idea of the numbers?

At some point as the good ones start getting rarer then presumably prices will start going up?

This time last year in Britain there were (apparently) 2000 left registered with the DVLA.

Presumably there would be more than 2000 still registered in the USA? (albeit that the steering wheels will not be on the "right" side!).

I've read somewhere that in the Netherlands there are about 400 TR7's. Roadworthy and not roadworthy.
I don't know it for shure.

If that's correct I have just over 1% of the TR7's in the Netherlands [:D]

I know off one now off the road Ian Willson of Triumph rover spares rolled his TR7 in the classic Adelaide last weekend the body in a mess heard he managed to salvage one headlight pod and a door handle

I'm not sure it really works that way. Generally, those cars that were real popular in their day end up becoming valuable with age. If a car did not have a big following in its time it usually does not add fans with age. While the TR7's sold a fair number, they really didn't catch the public imagination. These cars will always be relatively cheap.
