Another seasonal question...

Postby rsamis » 30 Oct 2007 03:24

Is there supposed to be an indicator light for the rear defroster (around here, the term "demister" doesn't really do justice)? Is it inside the switch, or somewhere on the dash panel? If in the switch, is the bulb replaceable? Thanks!

well certanly on the 1980 FHC i have there is a light just above the switch (inside the switch which is replaceable and a light on the instrument panel LH side.

i may be wrong but if both lights are not working it's possibly could be a fault with the wiring or the fuse.

Thanks John. I found the one on the dash when I took apart the dash last night. I must say, this is the first time I've ever come across a purple indicator light in a car. Another endearing quirk of the TR7... I fixed the dash light by changing out a loose Pressac fitting. Now I'll take a closer look at the switch.

Maybe "fitting" isn't the right word, but it's the little plastic socket the bulb fits into. If you look closely at its back surface, you'll see "Pressac" written in tiny letters.
