Portland All British Field Meet

Postby Last TR » 25 Jul 2015 07:21

First weekend in September. I'm planning to be there for the whole weekend. Might camp if the weather is good. Anybody else?

We should have the usual contingent there from Canada. Still have to cross some t's and dot some i's. Hope to see you there Ken. Given up camping. Just can't go that long with out a shower. Getting too old I guess, didn't bother me when I was younger. :P

I'll definitely be there. I haven't decided on the camping part of it yet. I only live about 15 minutes from the site.

What are the odds that this will happen again? Image

I haven't done anything to the car since last year. There were certainly much nicer TR8s than mine last year. Someone had to have led a ballot box stuffing campaign last year.

I guess I need to see your body & paint guy... I found a guy who said he could repaint just the rear deck for a few hundred; totally messed it up.
See you there.

Ron will have his TR7 Buick V-6 there, I will have my Spider there, Bill will likely have his TR7 Sprint (conversion) there if he can get it out of the mechanics shop in time. I don't know how many times he's replaced his ignition stuff. It's always something (although he showed up as a passenger last year). Weekend should be good but coming over on the ferry Thursday might be dodgy. 4 months of no rain and now we get it.
See you guys at the meet and greet Friday evening to pick up registration packets?

I'll be there. Leaking power steering fluid or not.

I'm on the fence since I'm in Seattle and the DHC is in Bend, OR. Merv, if Bill takes the Sprint it may push me over since I really want to see his car. What is his status?

I believe it will be touch and go. I'll contact him in a day or two to get a better idea. He'll probably want a day to test after he gets it back. It's a proper conversion done by one of our most knowledgeable members, who owns a Dolomite Sprint and belongs to that club, down to cross drilling the crankshaft to Vandervell bearings to grinding the oil pump block casting to maximize oil flow. His problems he's had boil down to an oil plug left off by company that did the engine machining and the electronic ignition failures. The mechanic working on it now runs a British car repair shop (he found the hidden missing plug) and repairs a lot of the club's Jags and Roll Royces but he charges an arm and a leg and he messed up Ron's son's car's water pump replacement so hopefully does a better job on the ignition.

Nick, latest update, Bill is in with his Sprint. Ron had to bow out with last minute personal reasons. Don't know what that's about yet. We'll be wandering in late afternoon, Friday. Two out of three ain't bad. Pictures will follow (camera's already packed so I don't forget).

Thanks for the update. Count me in. I'll probably come in Saturday morning after 9am with the DHC. Maybe I can pick up honorable mention with my new paint :D

I'll be working in the registration tent Friday, and will be back early Saturday and Sunday. Not camping. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
