First Show Of 2015

Postby john 215 » 01 Jan 2015 17:37

Hi,

Went along to New Year Car Show held in the centre of Stony Stratford near Milton Keynes. As in other years the market square was reserved for pre second war cars, with some lovely looking cars and bikes, a picture or two -

Great shots John, thanks for taking the time to put them up.

I bet the Mini with the T16 engine goes well [:)]

Great stuff John, thanks. I can't even work out what about 15% of the early ones are.

Being able to go to shows with cars like that would almost make it worth living somewhere where you were alternately wet or freezing.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments gents, as long as you appreciate them I will keep posting them.

Hasbeen, I have the same problem [:I] had to keep looking for a name on some of the early stuff, even harder as a lot are coach built cars.

Ron, the little white car is a Reliant SS, from the same people who brought us the 3 wheeler and Scimitar. Powered by a Ford CVH although I am sure some had a Nissan turbo engine in them, being made out of fibre glass they must fly [:0]

This side car Scooter combo must be rare, first one I have seen in the flesh -

When I was a lad these things were everywhere, you could them at 16 I think so lots of the 'rich ' kids had them at school

Love looking at the early stuff to see how problems were solved or way's of doing things were tried like the brakes on this early motor bike -

Got chatting to the old sales manager of Dunham And Haines, they were agents for Triumph Tune back in the day, he used to have there demo TR7 fitted with all there goodies as a company car and at the time was the fasted TR7 8 valve on the road, running a full rally spec engine tuned by Sid Hurrel himself. He was also involved in Richard Dunham rallying a TR8. Has load of pictures and info he said he will sort out for me so fingers crossed may make a interesting post [:)]

Cheers John

The Scimitar SS1 was designed by Edgardo Michelotti shortly after the TR7 Boxer and Broadside projects were canned. Basically Micho Jnr. used much of the stying used for the TR7 concepts but never used. That's why it has so many similarities without the exceptional good looks of the TR.

Hi,

I would love to have taken home the Riley in the first pictures, when it drove off it sounded so ' crisp ' or this supercharged Lagonda -

OR one of these two bad boys [8D]

But with the engine out of this that was sitting in the car park -

Failing that the red Vette was running a 502ci big block ( that's over 8 litres in new money [:0] )-
