Portland ABFM photos

I'll just post a few photos of the wedges here with a link to all the rest. I'm sure FI Spyder will have better ones to post. He took first in the TR7 class and Orange Rag took 3rd. I think someone must have stuffed the ballot box because I took 3rd in the TR8 class. Maybe because the top was up nobody could see how nasty my interior is? Triumph was the featured marque but they were promoting the designs of Michelotti, that kind of left the TR6s and us out. It was a great weekend with just a little rain Saturday morning. It was great to see everyone again.

No, I wanted to talk to the owner but could never find him at the car. He was with a group from Idaho and I didn't get the chance to talk to any of them. I really liked this car though. If I had voted for the peoples choice awards it would have gotten my vote.

It rained a little right before I left to go to the field and then a little bit more after getting there. Not a total soaker like 5 years ago. Not too hot or cold after the clouds broke up. A really nice weekend. Did I mention my 3rd place trophy? [8D]

It was a 1980 coupe build date later '79 (TCN) Ron had talked to the owner I believe, perhaps he can shed some light. I'll post pictures tomorrow when I have them sorted.

Yes, there are a couple shots of it in my slideshow link. It was the black and green plaid. Very nice.

I thought I knew which car it was, but the one I was thinking has a beige interior. Too bad you didn't get a shot of the the vin plate inside the windshield, but then you'd have to be a nut like me...

Any other info might help like where the car was from.

Here's some of my promised pictures. Bill (riding with Ron has a TR7 Sprint but car wasn't ready) isn't on this forum (yet). Stopped into Port Townsend to see Classic Car shop of memorabilia and have lunch. Overnight in Shelton. Next morning Ron had intermittent parking lights (electric choke active), got it sorted (sort of). Slideshow of the trip:

http://s119.photobucket.com/user/Spit999/slideshow/2014%20Portland%20ABFM

Coming back we were stuck behind a Volks van, horse trailer and two other cars on a winding road, I had dropped back a bit to adjust the cassette player when Ron went flying past on a rare straight, said he was going about a 110 mph (no speedo) by the tach. Next couple of straights were short and traffic coming the other way. third one was medium length and floored it to pass the line and catch up to Ron, don't know how fast I was going as the (US) speedo was pegged by the time I pulled back in at the end of straight and was soon behind him.

Spoils of the weekend (something to eat my pork 'n' beans off of (I already have the beer mugs from previous years for the beer), I think it was Ken that said he asked some one he knew with a TR7 why he didn't bring it out and the guy said because that black car wins every time. Won't happen when some one with a new paint job and cleaned up engine bay shows up against my original 20 foot paint:

Great pics. Thx for sharing. Mine were all cloudy. Found my camera lens covered with crud. Probably spilled my coffee on it on the way to the show. Fun meeting everyone. Thanks for the ride Ron. That car really goes.

It was a great trip, other then a small problem with my light switch the car ran great, steering shaft didn't fall off like last year and it was perfect driving weather.
The 80 TR8 white coupe 5sp was second owner, he had just purchased it from the family as the original owner who he was friends with had past away.
It's low mileage original, got to be very rare!
Great meeting you Nick, I believe if you show with the engine bay done next year I'll be buying my votes with Canadian beer!
After seeing that IMSA car with my engine putting out 655 hp I think I've got some work to do!
Looking forward to next year!

Sorry Jim, wanted to congratulate you again, you've done a lot of work to your car and following you out of the show I can see ( and hear) it's a beast.
Look forward to seeing you next year.
Great pictures by the way makes me wonder why I didn't get around the show more, spent a lot of my time talking to owners and drivers in the pits.
Ron
