Bright Light City 2014

Postby gaz » 05 Jul 2014 19:18

Hi Guy's the date has been set for Bright Light City 2014.
Saturday 6th September.

On the 6th of September 2014 we will be setting of from Blackpool heading for Bacup along some more of the best driving roads the north west has to offer.

We'll passing Darwen Tower, whilst driving along the pennines on route to S&S Preparations Classic & Sports Car Specialist, where we can chat amongst ourselves, speak to Steve, Rick and the gang and maybe see what great projects there up to & pick up some much needed parts and advice.

Then driving some of the same roads back to Blackpool, having a couple of stop offs on route giving an opportunity to shake the rattle cans for this years chosen charity.
Then as we arrive at Blackpool we'll be having a well earned rest break around tea time (as we say up north) before setting off for the grand finale and drive the golden mile The Blackpool Illuminations, classic style..........

With The Bright Light City Run just around the corner, the Banner has just gone up today As it says on the Banner Sponsored By S&S Preparations who are staying open a little later on the day and allowing us to take over the rest of there carpark. Even if you cant make it for the full road run why not meet up with us at S&S and help us fill there forecourt with wedges. If you are ordering any parts what better day could you have to pick them up with wall to wall wedges.
The Banner also says Supported by Autoglym they have very kindly donated a very special prize and the way to get hold of this fantastic prize will be revealed closer to the road run. The awesome prize that has been donated is one of there Autoglym Kit bags as in the pic. which retails upwards of £65.......

............and at some point in the day we are also holding a Man Vs Food style challenge to help raise much needed funds for Street Life our chosen charity for this year.
All that and drive down the Golden Mile in our cars to see the Infamous Blackpoll Illuminations

Gaz - A great ploy!

Just advertise that it's a cunning way of making a car look good - park it amongst the wrecks at S&S!

I noticed a poster today for Group 'B' Rally car parade through my home town of Accrington, a couple of miles from S&S @ stacksteads, happening same day as the Bright Light run.

Sorry I can't join the run as RPM 177R restoration as stalled. But i am hoping to pop along to S&S to see the convoy of TR7's.

See below for the details of the rally car run.

"Motorsport legend Paddy to lead town cavalcade Accrington Pals tribute

Rallying legend Paddy Hopkirk is set to lead a weekend of fundraising activities in Hyndburn to raise money for people with spinal injuries.

Belfast-born Paddy, who famously won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964 in a Mini Cooper S – will be driving his own legendary Mini at the front of a cavalcade of world championship winning rally cars including Peugeot Turbo T16 and Audi Quattros as well as luxurious James Bond style Aston Martins and cars of interest including World War 2 Jeeps.

Organisers are expecting up to 100 cars of significant historical interest to attend and several will be driven by top motorsport names including three-times British rally champion Mark Higgins, local works rally driver from the 90s Kevin Furber, current European driver Neil Simpson and Accrington junior rally champion Jak Foster.

The cavalcade will drive through Accrington’s Broadway at midday on Saturday 6th September. Cars will then be driven through Hyndburn, returning to the Dunkenhalgh at 1pm for an afternoon concourse display.

Minisport of Padiham will be helping by reuniting Paddy with his 1964 Monti winning car on the day – guaranteed to be an amazing spectacle for motorsport fans.

Spectators are welcome to attend the parade or Dunkenhalgh display between 1pm and 4pm – there will be food stalls, drinks areas, live music, children’s entertainment and opportunities to meet the drivers and get close up with the cars.

Entry to the motor show is free with a £5 per car parking charge.

Sponsorship opportunities and tickets are still available for the charity ball due to take place on the evening of Saturday 6 September."

Sounds great Gavin...
.....and hope to see you at S&S and more.
The Charity (Street Life) a Homeless charity in Blackpool has had it's funding from the Goverment axed so needs any money we can raise more than ever....
So the more cars we can get on the run or even to meet up at S&S = more money in the pot for this very needy cause.

Hopefully see some of you guys on the 6th
See website below for details or search Bright Light City on Facebook
It's set up as community page just like the TR Drivers Club Facebook page so you don't need to do Facebook to view the content only if if you interact.

I went to local show yesterday and spoke to few people about the run lets hope they put there cars/money where there mouth is....

Hi Gavin should be about lunchtime 12-12:30pm

I drove the run yesterday and have had to change the route because of road closure's and roadworks etc. as a result we won't now be passing Darwen tower....
....but this why is important to drive the route close to the day.
We will also be driving through accrington about midday on Saturday.
So hopefully see some of you guys there or at S&S Preparations

Hi Garry - I'm holding a bit of space in the next TR-Driver for your report, but make it short - we're very tight on space again, its shaping up to be another BUMPER issue with Part 3 \ 'A Hole In The Darkness', the story of a 24-hour race in a TR7 in the States.

The deadline looms.....
