Hi,

Great to see everyone today, shame we were stuck in the cold cow sheds but it was it is ! Brilliant and an honour to meet Mr Ted Schumacher today, a very interesting gentlemen indeed, could have talked and listened too for hours, one the highlights was he was reunited with a TR8 ( Mr Turners DHC ) that he scoured and shipped over to a gent in Liverpool, who in turn Chris then purchased it all this happened the best part of 25 years ago [:0]








He also got the chance to meet Harris Mann [8D]







Wish I had my DHC there to get the boot lid signed [:(]

More pictures later, not many sorry to say as the light is truly terrible in a cow shed in March with the rain pouring down outside !!

Ted is a good guy, a dedicated racer and innovator. I have him on speed dial! He is always willing to help and answer questions. He is also caught in the same turmoils as the rest of our suppliers, trying to supply parts for our cars that are dissapearing.

I can't agree with you there Clay.

Some 7 owners may drive a 7 because they can't afford one of the more favored Triumphs, or other marks. Many of these still have a 7 as they become richer, some because they have come to love the things, & others because they have discovered what a great car they are, when in good condition.

I bought my first 7 because the roads around here 15 years ago, were too rough for a Morgan. My first thought was a Morgan when I decided to get a sports car for my declining years, due to my history with them, but sanity prevailed.


With the money I have spent on my current 7, built from 2 wrecks, I could have had my choice of any Triumph in Oz, or many other more fancied classics.

The money spent on the 8 would easily buy one of the top XK150S, or E type Jags, if that had been my desire. I did think about the 150 I must admit.

I also must admit I recently entertained the idea of buying a beautifully restored Triumph Roadster. When I thought about it, I realised that once my son & son in law had had a drive, & the grandkids had been for a run in the dickey seat, I would spend more time polishing it than driving it. That sure as hell can't be said about the 7.

Yeah Ted's great. I was on the phone with him last week. He'll always take the time to discuss, in depth, whatever you need. Just sent my head to him to have it rebuilt and an uprated cam installed. About the same price as having it milled locally and doing the rest myself.
Nice to have a face to go with the voice.

Was the highlight of the weekend for me, hearing how he modified a stock TR8 to race in a ' stock ' class where every car was far from stock was great !!

If Woody had been there it would have been awesome ! Harris, Ted and Woody in one location WOW [8D] Could happen for you guys in the States next year with Harris visit.

A very enjoyable day. I too met Ted, a real gent who spent a lot of time talking to many of us at the TRDC stand. Great to put to face to that email address!

Good display on the stand, and always good to meet everyone again after the winter "closed season".

I was persuaded to stay at home and work and I not only missed meeting up with the chaps but now I find I've missed Ted as well, now I'm really miffed!!

Glad the rest of you had a good day - any bargains - were Robsport there?

Cant wait to see more pictures especially those of the photo wall.

Apologies to people as I may have not said goodbye. I had a prior engagement and left early. It was nice to speak to Ted. The way he nonsulantly told us about doing 143mph in a Wedge. Great stuff.
