Re: Triumph TR8 Engine Rebuild - help warnings!

For V8 engine parts, my first stop would be Real Steel.
I am interested to know what difference an MGBV8 oil pressure spring makes as I have not heard of this variant before.

Re: Triumph TR7 subframe drain holes

Hi Guys, I have been reading your posts for sometime and they have proved very informative, so perhaps I can add a little to this question. The four irregular holes in the centre bottom of the subframe are the drain holes. If you feel round inside each hole you will feel reinforcing vertical strips....

Re: Triumph TR8 Engine Rebuild - help warnings!

To be safe the engine will need to be stripped down to the last nut and bolt, every part cleaned and the block and heads acid etched to get rid of the burnt on oil. If you don't do this it will come off when you start using the engine. A new camshaft and followers are essential, rebore rather than r...

Re: Enamel Bonnet Badge

I have just compared the bonnet badge that Brian Ridley-Jones has had reproduced with an NOS one that I have. It is impossible to see any difference except that it is lighter weight wise. Well done Brian, I know how much work you put into it.

Re: Can someone tell me which bolts fit in which holes?

If you put the longest bolt in the wrong place, it will lock up the disc. Before putting the wheel back on, check everything spins freely.

Re: Anybody know YRW 573S?

Hi Graham, It must have retained by BL for a very long time, but it makes sense as its sister car YRW606S, a TR8, was retained by BL and used as a test bed for the EFI system. This is a well known car, fully authenticated so perhaps these are part of a series. Some more investigation is required.

Re: Anyone brought one of these

I would suggest that you take your old radiator to a specialist and have it recored and tested. You then know that it's correct and you get a guarantee. Cheaper in the long run.

Re: Anorak question

Having restored my '8 some 30 years ago, I was able to determine where the tools were positioned from a dealer. The jack is clipped in position at the front of the wheel well and the remaining tools in the blue plastic bag on top of the spare wheel, then there is a clear floor for luggage. One thing...

Re: Parts identification

Number 2 is the bracket that holds the windscreen washer pump, probably held in place by the two threaded screws. The single threaded screw could be for attaching the bonnet stay to the turret. Hope this helps.
